James Johnston - Kasson
James Johnston, 69, of Kasson, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
He was born in Taunton, Mass. on Jan. 24, 1943, and lived in that area until joining the Navy, which fostered his lifelong interest in electronics. He moved to Minnesota after his discharge and began his career in electronics repair. He and his family lived in Dodge Center and Pine Island prior to moving to Kasson. He sold his Rochester business, VY Electronics, and retired in 2009.
He enjoyed hobby farming, gardening, a good NASCAR race, cheering on the South Dakota State women’s basketball team, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Lundquist); daughter, Amy; and son, Aaron (Laurie). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mikaila and Dylan.
James chose to support medical research by donating his body to the Mayo Clinic.
There will be no funeral or memorial service. The family is planning a private Celebration of his Life.
