James L. Fellows - Rochester

James L. Fellows, 78, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in a car accident, along with his wife, in New Mexico, while they were returning home to Rochester from their winter home in Arizona.

Jim was born Sept. 6, 1933, to Lawrence and Otiska (Smith) Fellows in Faribault. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1951. He worked at Mayo Clinic from 1952 thru 1994 except for the two years he served in the Army. During his career, he worked in research and as a supervisor in the Heart Cath Lab. The James L. Fellows Library was named in his honor for his contributions.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He was a Minnesota Twins baseball fan. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Jim had a great sense of humor and genuine interest in meeting new people and learning new things. He was a life long friend to many.

Jim is survived by his two children, a daughter, Deborah Fellows, Coon Rapids and a son, Daniel (Carol) Fellows, Lino Lakes; two grandchildren, Emily (Nathan) Koster and Jacob Fellows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Otiska Fellows, his wife, Marilyn of 55 years and a sister, Arlowene.

A funeral service will be held for James and Marilyn Fellows at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochester.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.
