James M. Rasmussen - Dodge Center

DODGE CENTER — A memorial service will be held for James M. Rasmussen on Friday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, with his friend and pastor, Justin Boeding, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. The Dodge Center American Legion will provide military honors following the service.

Jim died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Dodge Center to Floyd and Margaret (Kristoffersen) Rasmussen. He graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1958. He married Sandra Hanson on Sept. 15, 1960, in Hayfield. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri, and was later employed at Culligan Soft Water in Kasson for over 20 years. He then worked at the Kasson Lumber Yard. After retirement he spent many years mowing lawns and did snow removal for many people in the community.

He was a member of the American Legion in Dodge Center, where he was very active. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center and enjoyed working for the church in many ways. He enjoyed the Faith Lutheran Wise Guys and breakfasts with his friends. He especially enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; one son, Shawn (fiancee Pam) of Zumbrota; three grandchildren, Kelli Jo, Adam and Jared; three sisters, Carol Ann (Rodney) Thompson of Dodge Center, Judy Jones of Owatonna and Pat Pool of Rochester; nephews and nieces; and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
