James Seaver — Kennewick, Wash.
Jim Seaver, 73, of Kennewick, Wash., was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Pueblo, Colo., to George and Frances (Gassman) Seaver. He passed away on May 17, 2016, with his wife at his side. Jim graduated from Stewartville High School in 1961. He immediately joined the Navy. He traveled the world, serving two tours on the USS Constellation, one on the USS Ranger and retired on the USS Enterprise as CW04 in 1991. The movie "Top Gun" was filmed on the USS Enterprise during his tour.
Jim spent two years in Kuwait as a civilian advisor to the Kuwait Air Force. He married Carol Cowett in Tahoe, Nev., in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling acting as a top gun.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Calvin (Kathy) Sample, Brian (Kathy) Sample, Steven (Elizabeth) Seaver; daughters, Deborah Seaver and Cheryl Seaver; granddaughter, Amanda Sample; and sister, Marie Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jerry, Paul and Lucille. A private memorial was held in Kennewick, Wash.
