Jay A. Quandahl — Preston

Jay Allen Quandahl, 45, of Preston, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his home in Preston.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. Dave Jore officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Preston.

Jay was born April 12, 1966, in Spring Grove, the son of Robert and Verna (Hareldson) Quandahl. He graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1984. He then went to Pipestone, and attended the Pipestone Vocational Technical Institute and received his degree in meat cutting in July 1985. After graduation, he moved to Preston and went to work for Dahl’s IGA, working there for 15 years. In 1988, he married Holly Gossman; the couple later divorced. After this, he worked for Skippy’s in Chatfield until 2011.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and any outdoor activities. He also enjoyed working on farms. He especially loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Verna (Rick Staggemeyer) of Spring Grove; one son, Jordan at home; daughter, Kori (Adam Johnson) McCabe of Spring Grove; two step-sons, Brandon and Ryan Allen of Chatfield; step-daughter, Kasondra (Joe) Fieseler of Eyota; five grandchildren; one brother, Brian of Gilbert, Ariz.; and one sister, Robin (David) Bong of Middleton, Wis.; his special family, Larry Severson of Chatfield, Tony (Paula) Severson, Kelli Pierce, Sheila (James) Marzolf and Shawn Severson all of Preston; also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; the love of his life, Jodi Severson and daughter, Rikki McCabe and also both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
