John B. Draxler - Plainview
The memorial service for John B. Draxler will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, with Deacon John DeStazio officiating. Military Rites will be by the Plainview American Legion.
Mr. Draxler, 80, of Plainview, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
John Bernard Draxler was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Goodman, Wis., to John A. and Stella (Millette) Draxler. He attended elementary and high school in Goodman. After high school, John worked for Oscar Mayer at Madison, Wis., for nine months until he joined the Navy in April 1951 and served his country until April 1955. On June 21, 1955, he married Joan Murphy in Cheltenham, Pa. John returned to Oscar Mayer where he worked until retiring in 1996. They lived in Marshall, Wis., until 2000, when they moved to Plainview.
John was a member of the Plainview American Legion Post. He loved the outdoors, spending time fishing, hunting, gardening and especially spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife, Joan Draxler of Plainview; three sons, Chris (Janice) Draxler of Elgin, Tim (Kathy) Draxler of Verona, Wis., and Neil Draxler of Plainview; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Francis Hinkley of Goodman, Wis., and Rena (Kenneth) Rutlin of Wyeville, Wis.; and one brother, William (Mary Jo) Draxler of Madison, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernon.
