Jon L. Brandhagen - Rochester

Jon L. Brandhagen of Rochester died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at home after battling heart disease and diabetes for many years.

He was born in Minneapolis on July 21, 1937. The family moved to Waukesha, Wis., in 1942. Jon graduated from Waukesha High School in 1955. He served his country in the United States Army after high school. After his time in the military, Jon spent his career with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, traveling weekly as a territory salesman in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. In 1963 Jon married Joan LaBracke of Milwaukee. They were transferred to Reedsburg, Wis., and lived there from 1964 until 1969. In 1969 Jon and Joan, and their two young sons moved to Rochester. Jon continued to work, traveling for Firestone for many years until retirement. After retirement he worked for the Rochester Public Schools.

Jon enjoyed politics, reading, music, sports, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Sylvia, by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Maryann and by his son, David.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Rochester; his son, Robert (Lisa), of Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Jane (Dennis Busche) of Rochester; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Arrangements are being made by the Macken Funeral Home. A private family burial is planned.
