Joyce L. Moist — Eau Claire, Wis.
Joyce L. Moist, 85, of Eau Claire, Wis., died at Clairemont Nursing and Rehab on Christmas morning, just nine days after her 85th birthday. She affirmed Jesus as her Lord and Savior during a birthday visit with Pastor Rod Larson.
Joyce was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Emil and Ada (Dahlberg) Dahlgren. She grew up on a dairy farm near Shirland, Ill., with her five sisters and one brother. At the age of 21, she married Leroy Moist on March 31, 1951, and they were together for 57 years, until Leroy's death in 2008. The couple moved to Rochester in 1967, and then to Mantorville in 1974. Joyce sold her Minnesota home and moved to Eau Claire in 2011.
Joyce will long be remembered for her kindness and gentleness. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant to Sister Generose, administrator for Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, and took great joy in serving others. Joyce's hobbies included golfing, snowmobiling, gardening and reading. She hit a hole-in-one in 1996, and liked to point out that her golfing husband, Leroy, never matched that feat. Above all, Joyce loved to be in the company of family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Bill of Coleyville, Texas and Kirk (Cindi) of Eau Claire; daughter, Pam (Scott) Willson of Fairfield, Calif.; three sisters, Darlene Carlson of Winnebago, Ill., Caroline (Bob) Rhyner of Durand, Ill., and Lois (Donald) Lowe of Davis, Ill.; grandchildren, Steven and Allison Moist, Danielle (Jonah) White, Alex (Laura) Moist, James Moist and Lexi and Josh Willson; and four great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bud; and sisters, Dorothy and Vi.
