Jule Claire McCullough — Pine Island

Jule Claire McCullough, 70, of Pine Island, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 7, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Jule was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa, to M. J. and Vida (Larson) Hovelson. She lived in Decorah, Iowa, and Clear Lake, Iowa, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1963. She then attended Mason City Junior College.

On Sept. 27, 1969, Jule married Richard McCullough in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Jule worked as a secretary at IBM in Rochester and Boca Raton, Fla., at Saint Paul Lutheran Church and at Stevenson Insurance in Pine Island. She was a Stephen Minister and a Stephen Leader, a member of the Progress Club and a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing piano, the bells, the flute, knitting, crocheting and various crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Pine Island; two daughters, Heather (Nathan) Lyons of Rochester and Heidi (Sean) Sorenson of Pine Island; six grandchildren, McKenna, Trevor, Kyle, Gavin, Danica and Alexa; one sister, Janet (Richard) Williams, of Port Richey, Fla.; one brother, Eric (Mary) Hovelson, of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Hovelson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island, with Pastor Kip Groettum and Pastor Audrey Lukasak officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Memorials in Jule's name to Children's Bible Study at Saint Paul Lutheran Church are appreciated.
