Kay J. (Mrs. Archie) Wolfe — Wabasha
Kay J. (Mrs. Archie) Wolfe, 75, of Wabasha, died early Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in Wabasha.
She was born March 20, 1937, in Durand, Wis., the daughter of George and Vera (Hart) Gillmore. She married Archie Wolfe Sept. 8, 1953, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Kay worked several years at Anthony's Clothing in Wabasha, and then worked 20 years for Wabasha County at the Wabasha County Courthouse.
She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She also was an organist for St. Felix Parish for several years. She was an excellent quilter and seamstress and excelling at needlepoint. Kay also loved listening to music, playing the piano and bowling. She belonged to the Red Hat Club, and the Bunco Club. She had great sense of humor and loved visiting with her many friends. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle demeanor and remembered in love by her family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Kay is survived by her husband, Archie Wolfe, Wabasha; daughters and sons-in-law, Candace and Michael Kasper, Eagan, Brenda and Terry Saturday, Sandy Spring, Ga., Rebecca Smith, Pine Island, and Gail and Thomas Yost, Bloomington; eight grandchildren, Caitlin (Tom) Haynes, Erin Kasper, Liza and Tessa Saturday, Riley and Callie Smith and Molly and Matthew Yost; one great-grandson, Clayton Haynes; and a brother, Jon Gillmore, Anoka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vera Gillmore.
A memorial Mass will be offered Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church, with the Reverend Monsignors Thomas Cook and Robert Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Felix Cemetery.Urn bearer will be Jon Gillmore.
Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha, today, Feb. 1, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church on Saturday one hour before the service.
Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home, St. Felix Parish or St. Felix School.
