Kenneth J. Vath - Matlacha, Fla.

Kenneth John Vath, 64, of Matlacha, Fla., formerly of Rochester, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012.

He was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Rochester, to Lyle and Anna (Weinzettl) Vath. On Oct. 31, 1971, Ken married Charlene Smith. Ken worked most of his life in the food service industry, owning and operating KJ’s Café in Byron for 20 years. He worked at the Links of Byron for five years before he and Char retired to Florida.

Ken enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and painting art. He also became a mentor to many, having the opportunity to share his experience, strength and hope with countless people.

Ken is survived by his wife, Charlene; sons, Chad (Nattalie) Vath and Randy (Julie) Vath; five grandchildren, Hailey, Nickolas, Michael, Logan and Carlee; brothers, Michael (Joanne) Vath and Paul (Brenda) Vath; and sisters, Jean (Chuck) Voeltz and Mary (Kent) Ordeson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Minnesota.
