Kermit K. Zimmerman — Rochester
Memorial services for Kermit K. Zimmerman, 90, of Rochester, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Columbarium at a later date.
Kermit Kenneth Zimmerman was born on Oct. 11, 1925, in Rochester, to August and Zanna (Hanley) Zimmerman. Kermit passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Seasons Hospice.
He served in the Navy during WWII from 1943-1946 and on Nov. 29, 1947, he married Violet Hammel at Peace United Church of Christ. The couple made their home in Rochester where Kermit worked as a mechanic and in construction. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and started a four-wheel drive club. He enjoyed coin collecting, trapshooting, old cars and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Zimmerman of St. Louis Park, Minn., Nancy Zimmerman of Rochester and Aurora (David) Miller of Rochester; two sons, Stanley Zimmerman of Longmont, Colo., and Gary Zimmerman of Eyota; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter and a stepgreat-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers and two sisters.
Memorials are suggested to Peace United Church of Christ.
