LaVonne Hermann -- Rochester

A memorial service for LaVonne Hermann will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church in Rochester, with Pastor Carl Tenney officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

LaVonne Shirley Hermann, 88, of Rochester, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital — Rochester, Methodist Campus.

She was born March 22, 1930, in Austin, to Everett and Lucy (Yarwood) Subra. She attended school at the Little Red Schoolhouse #49, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1948, and worked at Colonial Hospital in Rochester as a nurse aide while attending high school.

LaVonne lived in the Austin area until her marriage to George Hermann on July 10, 1948, at South Troy Church in rural Zumbro Falls. The couple farmed in rural Zumbro Falls until 1990, when they moved to Oronoco, and in 1992 they moved into Rochester. LaVonne worked as a Home Health Aide for 30 years, at Charter House, Madonna Towers, and Maple Manor in Rochester, and at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Plainview.

LaVonne was a longtime member of South Troy Church. Her faith was very important to her, and traveled to Jamaica on a Mission Trip in 2007.

LaVonne is survived by her husband, George Hermann of Rochester; children, Ranetta Lang of Winona, Retha (Mark) Engle of Mitchell, S.D., Rhonda (Mark) Krolak of Hopkins, Donald (Judy) Hermann of Indianapolis, Ind., and David (Theresa) Hermann of Pine Island; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Callahan of Albert Lea, Lila Parker of Pineville, N.C., and Lorraine Monahan of Winona; brother, Loren (Romelle) Subra of Blair, Wis.; and sister-in-law, Marlyn Subra of West Union, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends and family may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home in Rochester, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
