Leon Bollum -- Red Wing
Leon Orlyn Bollum, 72, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at the Red Wing Health Care Center.
Leon was born in Red Wing on March 23, 1945, to Orlyn and Ethel (Brinkman) Bollum. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1963 and worked as a dairy farmer on the family farm. In high school, he was a member of the FFA. He was a lifelong member of United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, where he was an usher, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and worked with the radio ministry. Leon enjoyed mowing his own lawn. He also enjoyed going to high school ball games in both Goodhue and Red Wing, and enjoyed watching the Red Wing Aces, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by a sister, Suzanne (Darrell) Klevan of Goodhue; two nephews, John Klevan of Goodhue and Thomas Klevan of St. Paul; niece, Kathryn (Ed) Scharnweber of Wanamingo; great-nephew and great-niece, Soren and Isla Scharnweber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and his grandparents.
A funeral service for Leon will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing following the funeral service. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Mahn Family Funeral Homes Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and also from 10 a.m to the time of the service Thursday at church.
