Leona G. Pluim - Harmony

HARMONY — Leona G. Pluim, 94, of Harmony, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Harmony Community Healthcare.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church, with Pastor Roger Lokker officiating. Burial will be in the Greenleafton Cemetery.

Leona G. Gluen was born June 1, 1916, in Greenleafton, the daughter of Will and Ella (Tammel) Gluen. She attended Flying Cloud country school. After school she worked as a maid in the Twin Cities and also worked for a shoe factory in Waupun, Wis. She married Arthur William Pluim in Washington D.C. After the war the couple made their home in the rural Preston area.

Leona worked for HECO in Harmony, the creamery in Preston, and Strongwell in Chatfield. She enjoyed sewing crocheting, reading, nature, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, Arthur (Mary) of DePoe Bay, Ore., Jill Broadwater of Preston, Mark (Debbie) of St. Charles, and Scott (Melinda) of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband ,Arthur, one infant son Jon Kevin, one brother and one sister.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston, and one hour prior to services at the church. Online condolences may be left at thauwaldfuneralhomes.com .
