Lillian 'Jeanne' Pommier Stanton — Tracy

Lillian "Jeanne" Pommier Stanton, 81, of Tracy, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Avera-Marshall Medical Center in Marshall.

Service was held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. Rev. Father Andrew Vogel cerebrated the Mass. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Currie.

The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.

Casket bearers were her grandsons, Cody Smetzer, Adam Strouf, Jacob Strouf, Aaron Stanton, Isaac Stanton, Eldon Vaselaar and Davin Moloney.

Honorary casket bearers were her granddaughters, Jordan Borski, Hannah Barden, Samantha Vaselaar, Rona Vaselaar, Cassie Schwingle, Shaela Moloney, Kyla Moloney, Jordanna Espanola, Dayne Patillo and Annika Patillo.

Lillian Jeanne was born June 6, 1931, in Currie, the fifth of six children born to Albert Lea Pommier and Mary Lucille (Ruppert) Pommier. She was the first baby baptized in the new Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie. In 1949, she graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School. On June 6, 1953, Jeanne was united in marriage to Keith LaVerne Stanton at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Palmer, Alaska. They moved to Tracy in 1957. The couple also lived in Huron, S.D. and South Bend, Ind. In 2011, Jeanne moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall.

A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she served as president of the Altar & Rosary Society, as guild chairman, was a lay Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD. She was the first woman elected to the Tracy City Council and served two terms.

Jeanne is survived by six daughters, Michelle from Rochester, Toni and John Smetzer from Colorado Springs, Colo., Brenda and John Barnick from Minneapolis, Meredith and Eric Vaselaar from Adrian, Jamie and Daniel Moloney from Eagan and Heather and Paul Patillo from Cibolo, Texas; and two sons, Conan and Monica from Minnetonka and Marshall and Dods from Hoover, Ala.; 17 grandchildren, Jordan (Craig) Borski and Cody Smetzer, Adam, Hannah (Kevin) Barden and Jacob Strouf, Aaron (fiance, Sasha Cherner) and Isaac Stanton, Eldon, Samantha (fiance, Ethan Thompson) and Rona Vaselaar, Cassie (Gary) Schwingle, Davin, Shaela and Kyla Moloney, Jordanna Espanola, Dayne and Annika Patillo; two great-grandsons, Ethen and Dylan; two great-granddaughters, Leilianna and Adeline; four brothers and sisters, Leon and Dora Mae Pommier, Dolores Everett, Joyce Elliott and Wayne Pommier; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Keith, on March 22, 2008, parents and one sister.
