Lloyd A. Owens - Rochester
Lloyd A. Owens, 94, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester.
Lloyd was born March 5, 1918, in rural Chatfield, to Roy and Vera (Lentz) Owens. He graduated from the Spring Valley High School. On May 7, 1939, he married Golda Runyan in Menomonie, Wis. The couple lived in Spring Valley, where they farmed, before moving to Rochester where Lloyd worked for Waters Conley. Lloyd retired in 1968 and they moved to northern Minnesota. In 1998 they moved to Plainview.
His wife, Golda, died on Feb. 12, 2002. Lloyd moved to the Sunrise Cottages in Rochester in 2007.
Lloyd is survived by his son, Dale (Rhonda) Owens of Elgin; and daughter, Sandi Ewing of Rochester. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elvin (Beulah) Owens of Rochester; and one sister, Dorothy (Bill) Maysey of Santa Barbara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service is Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Rochester, with Rev. Scott Schilbe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery in Spring Valley. The visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
