Lucille N. VanTries -- LeRoy

Lucille Nina VanTries, 96, of LeRoy, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2018, at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow.

Lucille’s wishes were to have no services.

Lucille was born March 31, 1922, in Glenwood, Minn., to Guy and Nina (Cleveland) VanTries. She was the first of eight children.

Her family moved to southern Minnesota when she was a small child. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1940. Lucille moved to LeRoy in 1942 and spent most of her life there. She was one of the oldest members of the Le Roy Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for more than 50 years and had many jobs within the congregation. Lucille loved children, sewing, quilting, writing letters, and short stories.

Lucille is survived by her son, Clifford Neil VanTries (Gail Butterfield) of Minneapolis; three granddaughters, Shelly (Kevin) Woods of Winthrop, Minn., Kimberly VanDurbin of Park Rapids, Minn., and Melissa Habeck of Huron Lake, Minn.; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry VanTries of Dexter, Donald (Dorothy) VanTries of Spring Valley, and Richard (Judy) VanTries of Crosby, Texas; two sisters, Marjorie Teare of Waterloo, Iowa, and Janet (Lorin) Hove of Spring Valley; one sister-in-law, Ann VanTries of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Patsy (Lund) VanTries; great-granddaughter, Hope; brother, Laurence VanTries; brother-in-law, Charles Teare; and sister-in-law, Shirley VanTries.

Lucille will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Her faith was of great importance to her and she is now in the hands of Our Lord.

Memorials may be sent to the LeRoy Lutheran Church.
