Lyla E. Wilcox — Waseca

Lyla E. Wilcox, 98, formerly of the Kasson, Mantorville area, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Colony Court Memory Care and Care Suites under hospice care in Waseca.

She was born April 15, 1916, to Andrew and Emily Larson in La Crosse County, Wis. She married Frank DeLos Wilcox on Nov. 27, 1937. The couple lived in California a short time. In 1944, they moved to rural Mantorville and farmed there. They retired from farming in 1980 and moved into Kasson.

Lyla was active in First Congregational Church in Mantorville most of her married life. She loved working in her church and motorcycling with her husband.

Survivors include a son, Wesley (Terry) Wilcox, of Rochester; two daughters, Beverly Ranvek, of Florida, and Joy (Russell) Weir, of Waseca; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and one son-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank D. Wilcox; daughter, Betty C. Johnson; two brothers; two sisters; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut St. in Mantorville, with Pastor Brian Engleston officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the church.
