Margaret Glomski - Lake City
LAKE CITY — Margaret F. Glomski, age 88, of Lake City, formerly of Wabasha, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Lake City Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Lake City.
She was born February 5, 1922, in Austin, the daughter of Bert and Marie Hewitt. At the age of 12 Margaret moved to Wabasha, and resided at St. Joseph’s Orphanage. She graduated from St. Felix High School and attended one year of nursing school. She married Philip Glomski September 14, 1946, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Margaret was a homemaker and she also worked at the Wabasha Nursing Home as a nurse aide and kitchen helper in her earlier years. She moved to Lake City in 2004.
She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Auxiliary Post 4086 in Wabasha. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and family and she enjoyed gardening. She also loved to read.
She was a very devoted mother and grandmother to her family, and she especially loved her family gatherings.
Margaret is survived by her children, Pat Wright, Lake City, Cindy (Denny) Boie, Lake City, Michelle Holman (Jim Holmstadt), Lake City, Phil (Lori) Glomski, Kellogg, and Steve Glomski (Julie Heise), Wabasha; eight grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Nibbe, Matthew and Jessica Holman (Jerry Wallentine), Kelly (Bryan) Matera and Amy and Joe Glomski, and Drew and Trevor Glomski. Her husband, Philip, daughter Mary, and two sisters preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, with the Reverend Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her eight grandchildren. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the church on Saturday one hour before the service.
