Marian Evelyn Wahl — Harmony

Marian Evelyn Wahl, 93, passed away peacefully with family at her side Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Harmony Health Care in Harmony.

Marian was born Dec. 29, 1919, to Adolph and Christina (Applen) Gregerson.Marian grew up in Harmony, and graduated from Harmony High School in 1937. She married John Weiss in 1939 and they had a daughter, Sharon. Marian and John later parted.In 1946, Marian and Arlo Wahl were married at Greenfield Lutheran Church in a double wedding with Arlo's sister, Orilla and Ray Peters on Dec. 4. Marian and Arlo were happily married for 63 years.

Marian and Arlo first lived in Spring Valley, where Arlo worked for a produce business. Later, they moved to Harmony where they started their own produce business on Center Street in Harmony. In 1950, her second daughter, Susan was born.

Marian taught Sunday school and Bible classes for many years. As a devoted member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, she served as secretary-treasurer for Naomi Circle for over 35 years. Marian's strong faith and love of God were evident in her daily life and in her devotion to her family, church, congregation and community.

Over the years, Marian played many roles. She always helped Arlo at "The Shop" on Center Street. For many years, she babysat for her niece, Robin Gregerson, and they shared a special bond that endured for their entire lives. Later, she also babysat for the children of Rodney and Marilyn Gregerson. Marian also worked in the kitchen at the elementary school and had a particular fondness for healthy eating and healthy living and was sure to share her wonderful dishes, and canned and baked goods with family and friends. Marian also had a lifelong love for creating beautiful needlework, the joy of her family's music, and spending time with her family.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Susan Giblin of Onalaska, Wis.; her grandchildren, Chad (wife Rachel) and Shawn; her great-grandchildren Lexi, Maddie and Lily; and her loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relations.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Christina Gregerson; her brother, Kenneth; her husband, Arlo; and her daughter, Sharon Weiss.

A funeral service will be held at Greenfield Lutheran Church, 235 Main Ave. S. in Harmony, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

A visitation with family and friends will be held at Lindstrom Funeral Home, 505 Main Ave. S., Harmony, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Burial will follow the funeral service at Greenfield Lutheran Cemetery, Harmony on Thursday.
