Marian Finley — Plainview
The memorial service for Marian Finley will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, with Cheryl Nymann officiating. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
Mrs. Finley, 75, of Rochester and formerly of Plainview, died Saturday (June 25, 2016) at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, where she had resided for the past four years.
Marian Irene Andresen was born on Feb. 18, 1941, to Carl and Milda (Roseth) Andresen in Blooming Prairie. She attended elementary and high school in Austin. Marian worked as a nurse's aide at Burr Oak Manor and St. Mark's Nursing Homes in Austin. Marian married John Nelson and they later divorced. On Oct. 8, 1982, she married Virgil Finley. The couple moved to Plainview in 1984. In Plainview, she worked at the Hillcrest Nursing Home. Virgil passed away in 2009.
Marian enjoyed crocheting, camping, reading, (she loved the National Enquirer), movies – especially scary, country western and mystery movies. Marian was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. She moved into the Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester in 2012.
Marian is survived by two daughters, Traci (Jeff) Barnes of Wabasha, and Kathy (Randy) Hagan of San Diego; two sons, Gary (Shelly) Nelson and Wayne (Brenda) Nelson both of Austin; four sisters, Sharon Briones of Taylor, Texas, Margy Leeper of Austin, Cecelia (Dick) Enright of New Prague, Minn., and Carla (Curt) Haack of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a brother, Gary (Louise) Andresen of Austin; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; a brother, Carl "Butch"; and a sister, Agnes Carr.
Friends and family may visit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
