Marjorie Catherine Mickelson — Lake City

Marjorie Catherine Mickelson, 87, of Lake City, passed away at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.

She was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Minneapolis, to Claus and Maria (Glueson) Klindworth. Marjorie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. She married Gerald Mickelson on June 21, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. They farmed in rural Lake City until 1987 when they retired and moved to Lake City. Marjorie worked as a home health aid at River Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City and as a home health care aid for Wabasha County for 24 years.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening, cross country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Gerald; five daughters, Betty Pike of Rochester, Sandra (Tom) Walters of Eden Prairie, Judy (Gerald) Thornton of Oronoco, Bonnie (William) Fuhrman of Lake City and Susan (Jim) Mack of Pine Island; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Tony and Orie; one brother, James Klindworth; two sons-in-law, David Hostettler, Richard Pike.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, with Pastor John Berg officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church.
