Marlene Herber — Rollingstone

Marlene Agnes Herber, 83, of Rollingstone, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, with her loved ones surrounding her, her sweet soul went to be at peace with Jesus.

Marlene was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Winona, to Robert and Marie (Hennessy) Dorsch. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949 and moved to the Twin Cities to work at Traveler's Insurance. On June 2, 1951, she married Harold Herber in Winona. They made their home in Rollingstone, raising eight children on the family farm. Marlene's full-time job was taking care of her family and her home, things she took great pride in. She was a wonderful cook, homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After Harold's retirement, the two of them traveled to Fort Myers, Fla., every winter for about 20 years. They also enjoyed cruising the Mississippi River on their houseboat. Marlene was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She is survived by seven children, Mary (Ron) Barber, Jeanne (Greg) Erickson, Karl (Beth) Herber, Tony Herber, Dave (Denise) Herber, Mark (Darline Elliott) Herber and Brent (Autumn) Herber; 22 grandchildren, Erik, Nick, Heather, Brandon, Brittany, Hannah, Erik, Ethan, Elissa, Tricia, Tanya, Tyler, Travis, Tanner, Logan, Gavin, Brady, Bryce, Joe, Ben, Lillianna and Blake; 21 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; two brothers, Don (Marilyn) Dorsch and Ralph (Connie) Dorsch; and many nieces and nephews.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 2007; son, Joseph, in 1973; and her parents.

There will be no more sadness for her, as she is surrounded by family that has gone before her.

A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, with the Rev. William Kulas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass, also at the church. Hoff Celebration of Life Center – Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
