Marvin Hemker - Rochester

ROCHESTER — The funeral service for Marvin Hemker will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Rance Settle officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 92.

Mr. Hemker, 78 of Rochester, died Sunday, March 14, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

He was born June 16, 1931, in Pleasant Grove, Minn. Mr. Hemker was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On August 18, 1956, he married Barbara Fieck at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Mrs. Hemker survives.

Marvin was a warehouse manager for Rochester Restaurant supply. Mrs. Hemker worked for the Rochester Public Schools.

Marvin was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and a member of the Rochester Archery Club. He was a member of the Redeemer men's fellowship group and was also a custodian for the church. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by Randy Hemker of Kasson, Dawn (David) McCullough of Rochester and Darcy (David) Schaefer of Utica, and 4 grandchildren, Zachary Hemker, Lindsey Hemker, Trenton Schaefer and Brandon Schaefer. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
