Mary Hodge — Rochester

Mary Hodge, 87, formerly of Rochester, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson, where she had resided since May 2010.

Mary Ellen McKeag was born July 13, 1927, in Northfield, to James and Luella (Carlaw) McKeag. She spent her early years in Stanton, Minn., before moving to Cannon Falls, where she graduated from high school. On June 5, 1948, she married Robert Hodge in Cannon Falls. The couple called Rochester home for most of their married lives. Mary was a full-time homemaker in the early years and later worked at the Mayo Clinic. In 1979, the couple began motor homing on a full-time basis, wintering in south and then had a winter home in Mesa, Ariz. During summers, they returned to Minnesota, spending time at several lakes up north, Lake Vermilion being their favorite. Her husband died July 10, 2003.

Mary was a member of the Congregational Church in Rochester. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, fishing, and cards, especially cribbage. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her love of family.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Majorowicz (Dr. Richard) Geier of Rochester; three sons, Steven (Catherine) of Leawood, Kan., Robert (Priscilla) Jr. of Roswell, Ga., and James (Carla Olsen) of Ottawa, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Jean, and her son-in-law, Rod Majorowicz.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept 20, at the Congregational Church, with the Rev. Teresa Roberts officiating. Inurnment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the church, and there will be a reception following the service.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
