Mavis Dion - Lanesboro

The funeral for Mavis Dion, 67, of Lanesboro, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating. Burial will be in Henrytown Lutheran Cemetery in rural Canton, following the services.

Mavis died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, of ALS, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had resided since Jan. 4, 2012.

Mavis Ann Danielson was born March 29, 1944, in Waukon, Iowa, to Hiram and Lillie (Honsey) Danielson. She graduated from Canton High School in Canton, and attended Medical Lab Assistant School in Minneapolis. Mavis worked at Fairview University Hospital for 25 years. She was married to Dennis Dion and later divorced. She had lived in rural Lanesboro, St. Paul, and back to Lanesboro the last two years.

Mavis was active in the Lutheran Church and enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, Bobbin Lace, and most of all her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Chris (Emily) Dion of Millville, N.J., and Shawn Dion of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Matthew and Joshua; five brothers, Carrol (Lois) Danielson of Lanesboro, Gary (Debbie) Danielson of Lanesboro, Ron (Sandy) Danielson of Lanesboro, Dennis (Phyllis) Danielson of Rushford and Michael Danielson of Austin; six sisters, Sharon Mickelson of Harmony, Janet (Dean) Burdick of Chanhassen, Julie (Glen) Jensson of Lanesboro, Helen (Miles) Edmundson of Ramsey, Susie (Walter) Bradley of Lanesboro and Lolly (Doug) Kessel of Lanesboro; many nieces and nephews.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and a great-niece.

Memorials can be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Lanesboro, The ALS Society in Minneapolis, and Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
