Maynard Duane Gilbertson — Lanesboro

Maynard Duane Gilbertson, 84, of Lanesboro, died Monday morning, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

A funeral service for Maynard will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Pastor Kerry Eversole officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Lanesboro Cemetery with military funeral honors accorded by Lanesboro American Legion Post #40.

Maynard was born July 12, 1929, to Alvin and Golda (Guttormson) near Henrytown in Fillmore County. He went to work on the family farm at an early age and had the privilege of living on the family farm for 80 years. From 1954-1956, he served in the Korean War. On April 29, 1967, he married Lois L. Hart at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville.

Maynard was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and as an usher. He enjoyed puzzles, reading, yard work and spending time with his grandchildren.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Lois; and children, Carmen (John) Omacht of Stewartville, Duane (Melissa) Gilbertson of Fountain and Brian (Carrie) Gilbertson of Edgerton; six grandchildren, Gabriel, Alexis, Reece, Mason, Kaylee and Chase; sister, Mary Ann (Herbert) Wurst and brother, Orrin (Marlene) Gilbertson both of Plainview; brother-in-law, Dale Hart of Waukon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sharon Hart of Stewartville. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

Maynard is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Duane Hart.
