Michael 'Chad' Winsell — West Concord

Michael "Chad" Winsell, 64, "friend to all," passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the nursing home in Hayfield, with his wife and daughter by his side, after living with a brain tumor for 14 years.

Michael John Winsell was born May 8, 1950, in Miller, S.D., to his parents, Leslie and May Winsell (Casey). He married Nanette Hutchins in 1971. A year later, they moved to West Concord, where they raised their three children.

Michael was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord in various capacities, including janitor, mentor and greeter.

Michael's faith and friendships were sources of enjoyment in his life. He remained close to childhood friends, cohorts from Outlaw Ranch in the Black Hills (where he took on the nickname "Chad"), fellow congregants, neighbors and friends and co-workers from McNeilus Steel. Through camping, backpacking, driving and music, he found adventure and enjoyment. His humor, generosity and spirit touched many people.

Michael is survived by his wife, Nan; his children, Jesse (Heather Rietz) Winsell, Shannon (Chad) Andrist and Casey Winsell; his brother, Thomas; his five grandchildren, Parker, Crimson and Atlas Andrist, Nia and Teague Winsell; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Daniel.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 21, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord, with a visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Chris Brekke will be officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
