Michael Glende — Lake City

Michael Glende, 68, of Lake City, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Michael was born Dec. 19, 1944, to Milton and Evelyn (Wamhoff) Glende in Winona. After he graduated from Winona High School, he joined the Marines and served during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. Following his service, he returned to Winona. He married Virginia Winter on April 18, 1970. The couple lived in Winona for a year before moving to Rochester. Then in 1985, they moved to Lake City. He worked as a postal carrier in Red Wing for 20 years. Virginia passed away in 2002.

He enjoyed spending time in Vegas and collecting coins, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.

Michael is survived by two sons, John and Joseph (Katelyn) of Lake City; two grandchildren, Jacoby and Michael; his mother, Evelyn Glende of Winona; a sister, Janice (Ken) Hatch of California; and a brother, Keith (Colleen) Glende of Washington.

He is preceded in death by wife, Virginia; father, Milton Glende; one brother, Roger Glende; and two sisters, Mary Lynn Krueger and Judy Horsfall.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, with Pastor Mark Wamhoff officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
