Michael Maguire - Chatfield

CHATFIELD — The funeral for Michael Maguire, 85, of Chatfield, will be Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, with Father Patrick Arens officiating. There will be a spring burial in Calvary Cemetery, Chatfield.

Mr. Maguire died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he resided since March, 2006.

Michael Theodore Maguire was born March 1, 1925, in Rochester, to Michael and Margaret Marie (Hess) Maguire. After high school in Chatfield he attended Macalester College in St. Paul. Michael was in the Army from 1950 until 1952, where he was a writer for the Government Screaming Eagle Newspaper. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include one cousin, Lynda Maguire of Vancouver, Wash.; a great neighbor and wonderful friends.

Michael was a generous and caring person.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John.

Visitation will be one hour before the service on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield. The Chatfield American Legion will present military honors.
