Mildred Marie Thatcher — Austin

Mildred Marie Thatcher, 101 of Austin, recently residing at Our House, 1313 15th Ave. N.W., passed away, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012.

Mildred was born Feb. 6, 1911, in Le Grand, Iowa, to George and Mary (nee Skoch) Coffin. Mildred was the third of seven children. She graduated from Le Grand High School in 1928 and on Nov. 2, 1929, she married Jerry Thatcher. Mildred worked at the Woolworth's Department Store inMarshalltown, Iowa, where she resided with her husband until they moved to Austin.

In 1938, Mildred and her husband, Jerry, opened the TenderMaid Sandwich Shop, which they

managed until retirement. The couple had a home on Cass Lake, where they enjoyedbeing at their cabin in the summer months. Mildred was active in the Austin Garden Club andwas famous for her home-made pies and cakes, which she originally made for the TenderMaid.

Mildred is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bob (Helen) Thatcher, Austin; and Dick

(Eleanor) Thatcher, Rochester; and daughter and son-in-law, Patty (Tim) Montgomery of Port

Charlotte, Fla.; as well as six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and four sisters.

A private family memorial was held.
