Myron Meyer -- Plainview
Myron Lee Meyer, 59, of Plainview, died Tuesday March 6, 2018, while vacationing in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Myron was born March 12, 1958, in Worthington, Minn., the son of Garrett and Joyce (Buysman) Meyer. He attended Worthington Christian Grade School and graduated from Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton, Minn.
He married his soul mate, the girl next door, Clarissa Van Meekeren, Aug. 14, 1982, at Christian Reformed Church in Worthington. They both knew they would get married someday while on their second date. Together they farmed near Reading, Minn., and moved to Kellogg in 1989, on their 7th anniversary to farm and raise their children.
Myron was a jack-of-all-trades on the farm; he owned his own hog farm, and worked for other farmers driving grain truck, crop farming and almost anything else that needed to be done around the farm. Myron worked most recently for Randy Hart.
Myron enjoyed hunting, volleyball, golfing, snowmobiling in Wyoming, and boating on the Mississippi. He especially liked motorcycling to Sturgis, Daytona Beach for Bike Week, and many other states. He traveled to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, just to name a few. Clarissa and he also were fortunate enough to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in Alaska, a state he always wanted to visit. He enjoyed collecting classic and modern muscle cars and would buy and sell anything with an engine. Myron loved spending time with his family, providing them with many fond memories. Most importantly, Myron had a quiet and reserved love for Christ, his Lord and Savior.
Surviving is his wife, Clarissa of Plainview; his children, Camelle (Christopher) Smith of DePere, Wis., Mitchell (Phalen) Meyer of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Clinton Meyer of Oronoco, and Conlan Meyer of Farmington; grandchildren, Lincoln and Dashiell Smith; parents, Garrett and Joyce (Buysman) Meyer; sisters and brothers, Arlis (Dick) Ruder, Laura (Doug) Vander Meulen, Curt (Cindy) Meyer, and Kelly (Paul) Preuss; mother-in-law, Jean Van Meekeren; sisters-in-law, Jonna (Leon) Tellinghuisen, Clancy (Mike) Craven, and Jena (Duane) Walburg; brother-in-law, Claryn (Karina) Van Meekeren; and many nieces and nephews.
