N. Kenneth Nelson — Spring Valley

Funeral services for N. Kenneth Nelson will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev Laura Fladten officiating. Burial will take place in the Bloomfield Township Cemetery, Fillmore County.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

N. Kenneth Nelson, 74, of Spring Valley, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Ostrander Care and Rehab.

Noel Kenneth Nelson was born March 2, 1938, to Clarence and Julia (Vigum) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bloomfield Lutheran Church. In 1956, Ken graduated from Spring Valley High School. After he graduated he started hauling milk for Loren Brandt, and also hauled corn and peas for Libby Foods. He was united in marriage to Anita Lemke on May 3, 1959, at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. On June 14, 1957, Ken started working at IBM in Rochester, and in June of 1991 he retired after 34 years. After his retirement from IBM he fulfilled his passion for farming. He and his wife Anita moved to the "Home Place" a farm near Spring Valley, where he grew corn and soybeans and was able to pursue his love for John Deere tractors.Ken also served in the National Guard for four years.

Ken is survived by his wife, Anita of Spring Valley, son, Steven Nelson, and friend Sabrina Rabil of Rochester, grandchildren, Tony, Julia, and Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Julie, and a sister, Clarice.
