Nancy 'Mimi' Roberta Winkle — Rochester
Nancy "Mimi" Roberta Winkle (nee Schroeder), 84, was received by the Lord Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Golden Living Center-Rochester East.
She was born April 16, 1929, in Rochester. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1947. Mimi married her husband, Richard Winkle on June 24, 1950.
She had a voice of an angel even as a child and would sing at weddings and with the Trinity Church Choir. She was a phenomenal pianist. She loved to entertain others and cook. Mimi was a part of establishing the Rochester Civic Theatre. She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and loved to be on her boat. She and her husband ran the China Hall in downtown Rochester. She loved her many pets and watching wildlife.
She is survived by her sister, Caroline; three daughters and one son, Cheryl Miller (Michael), of Woodbury, Terry Winkle, of Liuyang, China, Julie McKenny-Mitchell, of Lubbock, Texas, and Jennifer Galuska (Paul), of Oronoco. She had 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her brother, Glenn Jr (MIA); and sister, Rosemary.
The funeral service for Nancy "Mimi" Winkle will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. She will be buried at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
