Neal Kenneth Hardecopf — Adams

Neal Kenneth Hardecopf, 75, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at his home in Adams, with family at his side, following a short illness with cancer.

Neal Kenneth Hardecopf was born June 8, 1939, in Marshall Township, to William C. Hardecopf and Rachel K. Hardecopf (Julson). He grew up on the family farm outside of Adams. He attended Adams High School and graduated in 1957. Neal married Louise (Heller) Kerrins, and they later divorced. To this union, three sons were born, Kim (Vicky) Hardecopf, Kevin (Mary) Hardecopf and Kelly (Melissa) Hardecopf. Neal was married to Joan (Thompson) Hardecopf on June 8, 1992. She later passed away after a long battle with cancer in the year 2002.

Neal was a longtime lover of old time Polka dancing. He enjoyed traveling all over for dances with each of his wives and his special friend of 10 years, Ida Weber. He enjoyed horses and was in the Mower County Posse for some years. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, attending lots of reunions. He retired from owning his own business in farm drainage. Upon retiring, he worked in various jobs to stay busy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his parents; and four sisters.

Neal is survived by his three sons; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Finseth, Fountain; and brother, Lloyd Hardecopf, LeRoy.

The memorial service for Neal will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Marshall Lutheran Church, rural Adams, with Pastor Jeremy D. Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at Marshall Cemetery in rural Adams. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday.
