Ruth Barnes, age 77, of Fridley, passed away on May 15, 2020, of pancreatic cancer.
Ruth was born in Stewartville on Oct. 7, 1942, to Donald and Doris (King) Barnes.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Sumner Center United Methodist Church. She was raised on a farm in Chatfield, graduated from Chatfield High School, and furthered her education at Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester. Ruth had a challenging and rewarding career as a full time nurse for 45 years. After she retired, she used her skill volunteering at a free clinic for 10 years.
She is survived by her brother, Loren (Ella) Barnes of Chatfield; two sisters, Lucille (Blaine) Diesslin of Ely, and Marlys Meyer of Backus; one nephew, four nieces, four great-nephews, three great-nieces, two great-great-nephews and best friend, Betty Reveling of Fridley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Doris Barnes.
A private family service has been held and a memorial celebration of Ruth's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Centennial United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
