Lillian Irene Fischer

Visitation for Lillian I. Fischer will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2nd at Byron Funeral Home in Byron.

Lillian I. Fischer, 80, of Kasson, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at St. Marys in Rochester,

Lillian was born on July 19th, 1940 in Wasioja to Elvin “Al” and Inez Leighton. Lillian attended school at the Wasioja School House through Middle School and then attended High School in Dodge Center where she met the love of her life, William “Buz” Fischer. The high school Sweethearts tied the knot on September 26th, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. They moved to Biloxi, Mississippi when Buz joined the Air Force and it was there that they had their first child, Dawne Marie in 1960. With Buz being relocated to Finland, Minnesota and then to Alaska, Lillian stayed back in Minnesota to give birth to their second child, Mitchell Allen in 1962. In 1964 when Buz started his career at IBM, they purchased a home in Kasson and had their third child, James William in 1966. Lillian remained in Kasson with her family for the next 56 years.

Lillian loved to spend time with her family, her door was as busy as a revolving door at a shopping center with someone always stopping in to see what Lillian was baking. She loved having company, reading her books, gardening, canning tomatoes and pickles as well as playing Scrabble and other games. She enjoyed road trips to the river, playing slots and traveling.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Dawne (John) Bunkers of Fairfax, Minn.; Sons, Mitchell (Amy) Fischer of Kasson and James Fischer of Dubuque, Iowa; 12 Grand Children, 18 Great Grand Children, a brother Garry Leighton of Dent, Minn.; sister-in-law Karen Wadman of Oro Valley, AZ as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was proceeded in death by her husband William; her parents, her husband’s parents, Charles and Alberta Fischer; and her brother-in-law, Wesley Wadman.

Byron Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.byronfuneralhome.com
