Stephen (Steve) Marlowe Adamson, 77, of Rochester, MN left this life peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 after complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born on October 4, 1943 in Mankato, MN and was the son of Marlowe Harry and Agnes Rose (Fitzgerald) Adamson. Steve graduated from Mankato Loyola High School in 1961 and attended Mankato State University.
A strong work ethic shaped Steve from his early days. He was an advertising and marketing executive and began his career in 1963 which brought him to various towns including Fargo, ND, Mankato, MN and Kalamazoo, MI. Steve was self-employed as an advertising entrepreneur in Michigan for ten years where he sought new challenges. He then worked for Taylor Corporation for seventeen years and built strong connections with his clients through his wit and follow- through.
The love of his life was Mary Ann (Wesely) Adamson whom he wed on August 14, 1965. They were each other’s best friends and could pass the time with simple pleasures and endless conversation. They took morning walks together, split a daily sandwich at Subway, and shared their Diet Coke through the same straw. They enjoyed some winters in FL, their daily Scrabble games, and watching the Minnesota sports teams play. Steve was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed studying his genealogy, and putzing in the garage.
Steve and Mary started their family in September 1969 when they welcomed their son, Thomas Stephen, followed by their daughter, Julie Jo in September 1971. Family time was something treasured and cherished by Steve and the addition of his grandchildren, Collin Nawrocki (‘02) and Lacey (‘10) & Shane (‘13) Adamson, brought him even more joy and an added twinkle to his eye. He was a fun-loving G’Pa who was known for his sense of humor.
Wherever Steve and Mary lived, they were always fortunate enough to find and secure the type of friendships that remain for a lifetime. Steve valued time with family, friends, and neighbors from near or far and laughter would abound during their quality time together sharing conversation or eating dinners out.
Steve is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Thomas of Tipp City, OH; and his children, Lacey and Shane; and daughter, Julie Jo (Jeff) Nawrocki of Shakopee, MN; and their son, Collin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcia (Adamson) Horan; and infant brother and sister.
