Patsy C. Mathias, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in her sleep at Prairie Meadows Hospice Care, Kasson, MN.
Patsy was born January 9, 1934 in Odebolt, IA. She was adopted at an early age by her aunt and uncle, Ida and Roy Hedberg, who farmed near Hayfield, MN. Patsy graduated from Hayfield High School in 1952.
In 1953, Patsy married Howard L. Mathias. To this marriage, one son, Michael was born. Patsy and Howard later divorced.
Patsy worked as a bartender and restaurant manager at several venues in the Rochester area. She moved to Cook, MN in October 1977 to care for her mother; Ida, living there for 25 years and working in Telemarketing for Fingerhut.
Patsy volunteered for and was accepted as the first female member of the Saint Louis County Rescue Squad in which she was very proud. She also was on the Cook City Council for 12 years.
Patsy loved time spent with her family. Get togethers often included card games and board games. She was an avid reader of mystery books. She loved winter walks, especially after a fresh snow.
She loved her church family, generously volunteering time for quilting and lefse making.
Patsy moved to Kasson in 2002 to be near her family. She soon found a new church family at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kasson.

Patsy is survived by her son, Michael (Barb) Mathias; 2 granddaughters, Carrie (Nick) Griffin and Melanie (Dave) Hintz and 4 great-grandchildren, Landon and Morgan Griffin and Ella and Annabel Hintz.
