Paul Planting — Rochester

Paul Clarence Planting passed on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, in his Rochester home at the age of 69.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1946, in Spring Valley, to Clarence and Olga (Vickmark) Planting. Paul was raised there alongside his brother, David, and two sisters, Mary and Judy. His time was usually spent reading, enjoying the outdoors or, his true favorite, going fishing with family and friends.

After high school, Paul served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he found a part-time job working in a print shop and continued to work in the printing business up until the day he retired. During this time, Paul met the woman that would be his wife. He was married to Adele Henderson in 1975. They were married for 12 wonderful years before they were blessed with their son, Elliott, in 1987. His time was spent being devoted to his family and touching others' hearts with his warmth and humor.

Paul is survived by his son, Elliott, and his two sisters, Judy Bakke and Mary Hammer.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Adele, and brother, David Planting.

A visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester ( intersection of 55th St. and 18th Ave. NW), 507-289-3600. Memorials are preferred to the family. ranfranzandvinefh.com.
