Paul Raymond Erickson — Kasson

Paul Raymond Erickson, 89, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living Center in Kasson.

Paul was born on May 21, 1924, in Norcross, and raised on a farm near Wheaton. After serving his country in World War II in the Army Air Corps, Paul graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering.He and Pauline Pettis were married on June 24, 1949. He began a 36-year career in engineering at IBM in 1950; first in Minneapolis and then in Rochester. After retiring from IBM in 1986, he continued to use his engineering experience and problem-solving skills repairing lawnmowers, alarm clocks, radios, snow blowers and coffee makers for friends and neighbors.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping trips to northern Minnesota, Canada and the western United States. He and Pauline spent several weeks during the summer in their camper or motorhome in the north woods of Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; sons, Dana (Diana) Erickson and Steve (Nancy) Erickson; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 West Main St. in Kasson. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at a later date.
