Rev. Dr. Warren Diskerud -- Rochester

Rev. Dr. Warren H. Diskerud, 84, of Rochester, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Madonna Towers.

Warren Henry Diskerud was born May 9, 1934, to David and Helma (Nelson) Diskerud in Minneapolis. He graduated from high school in St. Louis, and from Carthage College in Illinois. He earned his divinity degree at Northwestern Lutheran: Seminary (Minneapolis), and served his first church in Superior, Wis., then another in Edina. He served as Navy and Marine Corps chaplain from 1967 to 1969, with tours of duty in Vietnam.

On Oct. 19, 1968, Warren married Rebecca Kempton in Long Beach, Calif. He served many churches, including Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and Bear Creek Lutheran from 1983 to 1997. He earned a doctorate in theology at Notre Dame. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Rochester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Rev. Diskerud was a true angel of God.

He is survived by wife, Rebecca of Rochester; children, Erik (Shaina) Diskerud of Pine Island, Ingrid (Robert) Burkholder of Rochester, Rondi Stebbins of Atlanta, and Amy (Scott) Roark of Atlanta; plus eight grandchildren; brother, Clayton (Shirley) Diskerud of Waverly, Minn.; and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military honors.
