Richard A. Prinsen - Greenleafton
PRESTON — Richard A. Prinsen, 74, of rural Greenleafton, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2010, at his home.
Richard was born May 2, 1936, in York Township, Fillmore County, the son of John William and Nelva (Sikkink) Prinsen. He attended country school and was a 1954 graduate of Preston High School. He married Joyce Brink Oct. 20, 1956, in Cherry Grove. The couple made their home in rural Greenleafton, where Richard continued to farm until Sunday.
Richard was an active lifelong member of the Greenleafton Reformed Church. He enjoyed playing football, fast pitch softball, fishing, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; four children, Barbara (Steven) Henry of Harmony, Michael (Bonnie) Prinsen of Rushford, Michelle (David) Barnes of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Andrew (Jenny) Prinsen of Rushford; nine grandchildren; one brother, Lester (Kay) Prinsen of Preston; two sisters, Joyce (Don) Nagel of Preston, and Eileen Prinsen and Tom Marquez of Denver, Colo.; two brothers-in-law, Don (Sylvia) Brink of Harmony and Jerry (Linda) Brink of Preston; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rachel Henry.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church in rural Preston, with Rev. Roger Lokker officiating. Burial of his ashes will be in the Greenleafton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
