Richard 'Dick' A. Anderson — Kenyon
Richard "Dick" A. Anderson, 81, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Rice County District 1 Hospital in Faribault.
Dick was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Blooming Prairie, the son of Irvin and May (Hanson) Anderson. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1950. He married Evelyn McIllece on April 15, 1951. Dick served in the Navy for four years and then attended Winona State University and completed his teaching degree. He was an elementary school teacher from 1959-92. He also coached elementary basketball, junior high football, and varsity golf.
Dick was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon. He volunteered his time to the boy scouts, Kenyon VFW and Kenyon Sportsman's Club. He served as president of the Kenyon Country Club and loved to golf. His hobbies included horses, sports, hunting and fishing. He loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities. He was passionate about everything he did.
Dick is survived by his sons, David (and Debra) Anderson, of Rochester, and Roger Anderson, of Kenyon; brother, Irvin Anderson, Jr., of Arlington; grandsons, Jay (and Natalie) Anderson, Tyler Anderson, and Mitchell Anderson; granddaughters, Angie Anderson, and Kelli Anderson; great-grandchildren, Thomas Temple, Dakota Temple, Cora Anderson, Peyton Temple, and Oakley Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Evelyn Anderson.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon, Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with The Rev. Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie Cemetery in Blooming Prairie at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
Honors will be provided by Kenyon Veterans Color Guard.
