Richard 'Dick' Palmer — Rochester

Richard "Dick" Palmer, 80, of Rochester, passed away on March 2, 2016, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born on April 4, 1935, to Clarence and Gladys (Pries) in Eyota. He grew up in Rochester and attended schools there. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956 after four years of service.

On Feb. 15, 1958, he married Betty Marquardt in Dakota, Minn. They made their home in Rochester. He worked various jobs, retiring from Mayo Clinic in 2000.

Dick enjoyed camping with his family, trout fishing, family get-togethers, and eating at Grandma's Kitchen. He loved sports and helped coach the Pinewood Pirates Youth Baseball Team to a championship.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Roberts and two nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Pauline (Doug) Hubman of Billings, Mont.; daughter, Judy (Jim) Anderson; sons Ken (Barb) and Steve (Beckie), all of Rochester; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and several step and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, in River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Bryan-Wegner, Zumbro Lutheran Church, officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be at Highland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lanesboro, Minn.
