Richard H. Sheumaker — Richardson, Texas

Richard H. Sheumaker, 80, died at home in Richardson, Texas, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015.

He was born at home on Nov. 15, 1934, to Harold "Hal" and Florence (Finch) Sheumaker in Meltonville, Iowa. He attended St. Ansgar (Iowa) High School in 1952, Austin Junior College and Iowa State, and later University of Nebraska at Omaha. He worked 35 years for IBM as a computer engineer in Omaha, Neb. Married in 1965.

His lifelong love of learning was a marked influence on his children, and he accomplished a remarkable family genealogy project.

He is survived by wife, Rosemary (Arendt); daughter, Helen Sheumaker (Kevin Armitage), granddaughter, Rita Armitage; son, Philip Sheumaker (Fanny Baltazar), granddaughters, Rachel and Emma; son, Andrew Sheumaker; daughter, Mary Sheumaker and grandson, Anthony Villagran Sheumaker; sister, Ruth Steinke; and many nieces and nephews.
