Richard H. Sullivan — Rochester

Richard H. Sullivan, 86, of Rochester, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Saint Marys Hospital Campus, following a short illness.

Richard Harold Sullivan was born to Edward and Katherine (Sexton) Sullivan on May 7, 1928, in Stewartville. He grew up in Stewartville, attended school there, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1946. He then attended the University of Minnesota. Richard was married on May 31, 1963, in Decorah, Iowa, to Anna Huber. Following their marriage, they lived in Rochester, where they raised their family and continued to make their home. Richard was a longtime employee at IBM in Rochester, and Anna was a homemaker.

Richard was a man of strong work ethic, "whatever it takes to get it done." His pride and joy was keeping his lawn manicured and making sure his red truck was SHINY! He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to the very end. He will be deeply missed.

Richard is survived by his four children, Sharon Taylor (Tom Wooner), of Rochester, Bruce (Cindy) Sullivan, of Kasson, Sandy Stensrud (Steve McCullough), of Rochester and Lily (Chris) Dugdale, of Wessington Springs, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, four weeks ago; his parents; his four brothers, Francis, Gordon, Glenn and Don; and one grandson.

A private family service will be held Monday, Nov. 17, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Stewartville.
