Richard I. Haddy M.D. — Rochester

Richard I. Haddy M.D., 63, formerly of Rochester, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013.

Dr. Haddy lived in Prospect, Ky., and recently retired from the University of Louisville as a professor and physician of family medicine. His career as a physician, researcher and teacher spanned more than 30 years. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and went on to medical school at Michigan State University, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; children, Kari, Jennifer, Michael and Sarah; parents, Drs. Francis and Theresa Haddy; sisters, Carol Froelich and Dr. Alice Haddy; and parents-in-law, Edward and Valia Mitchell.

He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed a long and distinguished career in medicine, with numerous grants and publications. He loved his family, music, history, writing and making others laugh.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint, Mich.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, Mich.
