Robert 'Bob' A. Pooler — Rochester
Robert A. Pooler "Bob," 88, passed away peacefully Friday, July 19, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital.
Bob was born May 10, 1925, in La Crosse, Wis., to Paul and Selma (Brekke) Pooler. He graduated from Preston High School and then went on to attend Luther College. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corps and proudly served his country during World War II. On Oct. 21, 1950, Bob married Muriel Bastian.
He was a member of Homestead United Methodist Church, the American Legion, VFW and was a lifetime member of the Elks. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family making memories.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Muriel; son, Craig (Jackie) Pooler of Little Falls; daughter, Vicki Petrich of Oxnard, Calif.; four grandchildren, Eric Schwestka, Kristin (Joe) Mellgren, Matthew (Cass Kleinjan) Pooler and Ryan (Alyssa) Petrich; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Hailey Mellgren; and stepsister, Joyce Robertson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Pooler; mother, Selma Pooler Hahn; stepfather, Reuben Hahn and two stepbrothers, Dan and Kenneth Hahn.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place N.W., Rochester.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, July 22, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Kandels and the Rev. Chris Brekke will be officiating, with inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Hospice, The American Cancer Society or to Homestead United Methodist Church.
